On February 18, 2025, Professor Li Xing from Guangdong Institute for International Strategies, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, China – visited the University of Macau (UM) and its Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) to explore potential cooperation in the areas of China-European Union relations and China-Portuguese-speaking countries. During his visit, Professor Li met with Vice Rector Professor Rui Martins to discuss collaborative opportunities that could enhance academic and research exchanges between the institutions.

Li Xing is a leading scholar and distinguished professor at Guangdong Institute for International Strategies, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, China; and an adjunct professor at the Department of Politics and Society, Aalborg University, Denmark. His research and teaching areas include international political economy, international relations, and world order. Both professors engaged in a detailed discussion about fostering stronger ties between their respective universities, with the European Union and Portuguese-speaking countries as major reference interests. They emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary research that bridges political science, economics, and international relations.
Professor Li Xing highlighted the growing significance of China-EU relations in global politics and economics. He proposed joint research activities that could provide deeper insights into trade policies, diplomatic strategies, and cultural exchanges between China and European nations. Additionally, he underscored the strategic importance of Portuguese-speaking countries as emerging markets with strong historical ties to both Europe and China.

Vice Rector Professor Rui Martins expressed UM’s keen interest in expanding its international collaborations. He noted that such partnerships are crucial for enhancing the university’s global footprint and providing students with diverse learning opportunities. Professor Martins also mentioned ongoing initiatives at UM aimed at promoting multilingual education and cross-cultural understanding in light of the celebrations of the 45th anniversary of the University of Macau in 2026.

During his visit, Professor Li Xing participated in a conference about the importance of academic publishing for Master students at UM/Faculty of Social Sciences. This conference emphasized the critical role of publishing in advancing academic careers and contributing to the global body of knowledge. Additionally, Professor Li Xing met with Professor Song, Jean Monnet Chair at the Faculty of Social Sciences, to discuss further collaborative efforts. This meeting further solidified the commitment to fostering academic excellence and international cooperation.
Professor Li’s visit marks a significant step towards strengthening academic ties between Chinese institutions and their European counterparts while also recognizing the pivotal role played by Portuguese-speaking countries in this dynamic relationship.

2025年2月18日,廣東外語外貿大學廣東國際戰略研究院李形教授訪問澳門大學及社會科學學院,探討在中歐關係及中葡國家領域的合作潛力。訪問期間,李形教授與副校長馬許願教授會面,商討可加強兩校學術及研究交流的合作機會。

李形是中國廣東外語外貿大學廣東國際戰略研究院的著名學者和專職研究員,也是丹麥奧爾堡大學政治與社會系的兼職教授。他的研究和教學領域包括國際政治經濟、國際關係和世界秩序。兩位教授就促進各自大學之間更緊密的聯繫進行了詳細的討論,其中歐盟和葡語國家是主要的參考對象。他們強調將政治學、經濟學和國際關係連繫起來跨學科研究的重要性。

副校長馬許願教授表達了澳門大學對擴大國際合作的濃厚興趣。他指出,這種合作關係對加強大學的全球足跡和為學生提供多元化的學習機會至關重要。馬許願教授亦提及澳門大學為配合2026年澳門大學45周年校慶,會持續推行多語言教育及促進跨文化了解的措施。

在訪問期間,李形教授參加了澳門大學社會科學學院為碩士生舉辦的有關學術出版重要性的會議。這次會議強調了出版對學術事業的發展和對全球知識體系的貢獻的關鍵作用。此外,李形教授與社會科學學院讓  莫內主席宋教授會面,討論進一步的合作事宜。此次會面進一步鞏固了雙方在促進學術卓越和國際合作方面的承諾。

李教授的到訪標誌著中國院校與歐洲同行在加強學術聯繫方面邁出了重要的一步,同時也肯定了葡語國家在這一動態關係中所扮演的舉足輕重的角色。
