Associate Professor Francisco José Leandro represented the Department of Government and Public Administration (DGPA), Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS), University of Macau (UM), at the National Studies Course for Academic and Management Key Personnel of Macao Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The course was jointly organized by the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) of the Macao SAR and the Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), and took place in Beijing from 16 to 20 June 2025.
This program provided a valuable platform for academic and administrative leaders to deepen their understanding of China’s governance, educational policies, cultural heritage, and strategic development goals. The course featured a series of high-level lectures, thematic discussions, and cultural immersion activities, all designed to foster national awareness and strengthen institutional alignment with broader national educational objectives.
Professor Leandro actively participated in all sessions, contributing to discussions on higher education reform, regional integration, and talent development as well as to strengthen China-Portuguese-speaking Countries studies. His engagement reflected the University of Macau’s commitment to academic excellence and its role in supporting Macao’s integration into national development strategies such as the Greater Bay Area and the Belt and Road Initiative.
The experience also reinforced the importance of cross-regional collaboration and cultural exchange in shaping responsive and forward-looking educational leadership.
