Professor Francisco José Leandro, a faculty member at the University of Macau, visited ESCS under an international cooperation agreement.
On June 25, ESCS welcomed Francisco José Leandro, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Macau. The professor’s visit to the School took place within the framework of the cooperation protocol established in 2023 between the Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon (IPL) and the Macanese educational institution, which aims to strengthen bilateral agreements in the areas of Research and Internationalization.
During the visit, Professor Dr. Francisco José Leandro gave a seminar titled “Is China a Global Power?”. Drawing on his most recent work, “Is China a Global Power?: The Three Great Walls of the Middle Kingdom”, published in 2025 by Palgrave Macmillan, the professor presented an analysis of China’s role in the world, exploring the political, economic, and strategic dynamics that frame China’s power in the current international landscape.
This visit reinforces the commitment of ESCS and the University of Macau to strengthening academic and scientific ties. It is worth noting that, back in February of this year, the ESCS Board—represented by Professor Dr. André Sendin and Professor Dr. Sandra Miranda—had already visited the University of Macau with the aim of promoting future collaborations, particularly in the joint development of R&D projects and the enhancement of faculty mobility programs.
